Why do i love a good road trip? Easy. Because somewhere along the way between the repetitive miles of the open road and the seemingly endless amount of unoccupied time, 'the opening' happens.
You find yourself occupying the time with conversation, jokes, planning, singing, laughing, reminiscing, dreaming - the memories are invaluable; precious in their simplicity.
I was talking with a friend the other day. He asked a really interesting question, "What was the first gift CP ever gave you?"
I thought long and hard and honestly couldn't remember. Favorite gift i can answer in a heartbeat but first gift - ahem, whaaaaat?!
And, then he asked, " What was the first trip you guys took together?"
I instantly answered, "Providence, Rhode Island." Remember it like it was yesterday...oh, snap! Ding. Light bulb.
Who's with you on the journey matters more than the destination, trust me.
(In this case, CP was driving, my kids were asleep in the backseat and we where on our way home having visited with family.)
Until next time,
